Arthur's Adornment Performance

One of the many ways the DAM is celebrating flowers this summer is through Arrangementsflower-themed artworks that highlight the DAM's vast and varied collections by spotlighting groupings of artworks from all over the world and across time that embrace the flower as subject matter. One of those Arrangements is called Floral Adornment on Level 6 of the North Building, and it celebrates the way cultures around the world, both past and present, use floral adornment as a means of expression.

Arthur took inspiration from this particular Arrangement, and put together an incredible performance on First Free Saturday at the DAM called Adornment. Five models wandered solo throughout the museum with elaborate floral headdresses, clothing provided by Lisa Elstun of the Fashion Design Center, and hair and makeup by Fleur Salon. At 1:30 and 3pm, all of the models converged on the Floral Adornment Arrangement and did a mini fashion show for the crowd of visitors.

It was really fun to see visitor reactions as the models walked into new galleries. Visitors watched, took pictures, and interacted with the models. Even Mayor Hancock showed up to congratulate Arthur on a job well done!
