Monday Installation With Nathan Hall

Last Monday, we installed the first two of Nathan’s five residency projects: “Piano Office” and “Western Soundscapes.” What does it take to be a composer-in-residence and create an in-gallery sound environment?

  • 1 roll of painter’s tape
  • 8 harmonicas (plus 8 extra just in case)
  • 1 bundle of birch tree branches (number of individual branches THTBD—too hard to be determined)
  • 800 baby wipes
  • 1 circa 1990 CD player
  • At least 20 minutes of musical play time
  • A team of enthusiastic DAM staff
